Our first furniture purchase

Today we purchased our first piece of furniture as a couple! We are definitely moving up in the maturity of purchasing power. Terry and I currently have two apartments and he is living in a one bedroom in Charleston and when we have visitors the sleeping arrangements present a problem. Terry being the gentleman that he is usually gives up his nice queen-size bed for his guest and camps out on his lazy-boy dual recliner couch. This couch is probably over 10 years old and has lost most of the cushioning it began with. Every time that you try to recline the chair you must convulsive your body in a certain movement so that you can physically put yourself into a reclining position with the recliner or if you try to stretch over the couch from end to end you feel ever 2 by 4 that sections the couch. Needless to say it does not make for a comfortable nights sleep or nap!
this is what the old couch looks like although this couch doesn't
have the more than 10 years of service look...

So we have been debating about a couch or a couch that converts to a sleeper sofa. We wanted something with a neutral color so that we can use it with any color palate. So needless to say after much looking we have purchased from Ashley Home Furniture the Townhouse - Tawny queen sofa sleeper......
this is our new couch to be delivered before Feb 10th to our Charleston apartment
I didn't purchase the accent pillows though. That is my next project - decorating.......

And guests are welcome anytime!

Our Wedding Day!

One of the most special days of my life recently occurred! My Wedding Day! I should probably say our wedding day but in all honesty everyone knows it is all about the bride.  Planning my wedding was exciting and overwhelming and I fortunately had my mother to help in every way! The wedding and everything went off so wonderfully and it was all that I ever dreamt of.
Terry and I exchanged vows in front of God and our closest family and friends on November, 6, 2010 at 5:00pm at Latta United Methodist Church. Just a little less than a year prior to our wedding, Terry proposed to me on December 11, 2009 in Charleston at The Battery, our favorite place. Shortly after the proposal I began planning my wedding and what did I do first? Gown shopping! And I found the dream dress right away - it was actually the very first dress I tried on but I did try on 9 others before deciding it was the one!
My wedding dress!

And this was all the layers that had to be fluffed under it! As you can see I am laughing while my bridesmaids did the job.

My something blue - beautiful blue satin Pour La Victoire platform pumps.

Terry and I asked some our closest friends to be our bridesmaids and groomsmen. We were so thankful to have these people stand with us and celebrate in our wedding bliss!

 The Groomsmen and Usher:
Mr. Andy Smith, Mr. Johnny Jacobs, Mr. Preston Forshee, Mr. Ronnie Hoffman,
Mr. Mikel Brett and Mr. Adam Grice

The Bridesmaids:
Ms. Eryn Lou Richardson, Mrs. Kiri Willis, Dr. Lindsay Grosso,
Ms. Jessica Mixson, Ms. Kasey Smith

My sister was my beautiful Maid of Honor!

Another thing that I really wanted for the wedding was a beautiful and delicious wedding cake! We met with our cake maker and talked to her about what I wanted: four layers, completely white, lace appliqués on the layers and cascading flowers that resembled the ones on my dress starting at the top layer and flowing down the layers in a wrapping manner. Boy did she get it right! So if you want the most awesome cake ever from someone who is truly talented just call me and I will tell you about The Cake Lady!

This is the awesome 1931 Buick Terry got for us to ride in from the wedding to the reception and to drive off in on to our honeymoon. It was so beautiful and definitely was a highlight of the day!

Terry and I held our reception at Beulah Land Plantation, my family's farm. We rented a HUGE tent and set it up in front of a candle-lit pond with outer-door and indoor seating as well as a fire pit.  The reception was all I could have asked for! We had a great band - Tru Sol, great food courtesy of Andy Marchant, and even a heater that kept everyone warm and toasty under the tent since the weather took a turn for the cold that weekend! For the wedding we also rent a photo-booth from Shutterbooth. This was such a hit at the wedding and we are using the duplicate strips that everyone took at our wedding to make a digital guestbook to hang in our house one day.

Classic photo strips from our photo-booth at the wedding!

Our awesome band that played great songs from beginning to end - we definitely danced the night away to their tunes!

Our wedding was so amazing! We thank everyone who had a hand in making it so special. Terry and I are so blessed to have family and friends that love and care about us so deeply and we could not have asked for a more perfect day to spend with you all.

A special thank you goes to my parents who funded the whole shin-dig! They truly gave me everything my heart desired and I love them so much. They are the most amazing people ever!

Terry and I also are so thankful to our photographer, Ricki Ford, for his amazing work and giving us so many memories with our wedding photos. He was an absolute blast to work with and most of all he got Terry to truly smile in all the photos, which is a miracle because Terry hates to smile in pictures!

And now were are headed off to a wonderful life as newlyweds (with a stop in the Dominican Republic first)....................................................

blogging newbie

Well here goes nothing.....I have noticed over the past few months that everyone is doing something to share with others the events of there life. Recently I was blessed to marry my best friend, while Terry and I are beginning our life as newlyweds in a bit of an unconventional manner,  I think creating a blog would be a great way to document this journey. Currently I am pursuing a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham which means that I am living in Birmingham, Alabama and Terry is living in Charleston, South Carolina. We are approximately 7 hours and 14 minutes apart, door to door that is! It makes for a very long drive on the weekends to visit each other but always the best part of my week. So stay tuned for the story of our life and the interesting things that are occurring.....
